tiny floral and lace

A new organic cotton blouse I just added to my shop. One only for now, although I may soon get a little more of this fabric. The fabric is from Westfalenstoffe of Germany. It is quite different from most of the modern and bold type of designs that seem to be popular with organic cotton designers right now. I like those, too, but this is so sweet and soft.

a portrait begun

after the first sitting, composition laid down, figures blocked in. This is my first painting in 8 years (since before my son was born). What lovely muses they make. Funny how they push and pull you like that.

boho chic

a new dress for the shop, size 4T. Sewn from one of Harmony Art's organic cotton sateen fabrics called Eyes of the World. It seemed to be fitting with this peasant style dress. I've attached a handsewn fabric yoyo to add a little festive flare.

I had only enough fabric for the one dress and will be posting it as soon as I get a chance.

oh happy day

Last night the tail end of a hurricane passed through. Today was the perfect summer day for flying a kite.

from the cut-outs of Henri Matisse. These were done late in the artist's life following a serious illness and subsequent surgery. He referred to the process of making cut-outs as "painting with scissors."

Wouldn't it be amazing to see these works reproduced as Modern Art Quilts?

Where my husband and I spent a long weekend together for our 10 year anniversary. We crammed in lots of art, jazz, comedy, food and walking, walking, walking! It was perfect.

Montreal has beautiful and unexpected sculptures like this one scattered all around the city - this one tugged at my heartstrings a little, I must admit (being sans enfants).

This is spinach from our garden that my father planted for us. Dad has always kept a garden, in fact he once kept a small piece of farmland. Now that we have the land, I was grateful to have my father get me started with a garden for my family. What a gift.

postcards from Cape Ray

These two loved it. Pristine sandy beaches, big, big waves and a beautiful vista from all vantage points. So many beaches and coves left to discover.
